MILLER TOWER DESTROYED BY FIRE

The former CSX (x-B&O) Miller Tower, which had served the railroad at Cherry Run, W.Va., until it closed in Sept. 2000, was destroyed by a suspicious fire on the grounds of the Martinsburg Roundhouse late April 17, 2026.

Following its closure by the railroad, the building was acquired by the Berkeley County Roundhouse Authority, and was dismantled and moved in February 2001 to Martinsburg with the intention that it become an interpretive exhibit along with its original machinery, open to the public. [See Bull Sheet, March 2001]

Eventually it was moved several hundred feet from the roundhouse compound, reassembled, and given a new roof, but it never reopened for the purpose that had been intended.
