Bull Sheet Editor Inducted into Maryland Senior Citizens Hall of Fame

October 26, 2017

Allen Brougham, editor and webmaster of the Bull Sheet, was inducted into the Maryland Senior Citizens Hall of Fame at a ceremony in Glen Burnie, Md., October 26, 2017.

Brougham, 76, was editor of the Bull Sheet newsletter from its beginning, in 1986, until it terminated printed publication 19 years later. However, the spirit of the publication has continued with BullSheet.com.

The biography presented for the award includes the following accolade:

"He maintains a website which shares railroad-inspired features rooted in his 30-year career with the CSX and B&O railroads. The site includes a wealth of knowledge on the railroad systems as well as current news and data on a daily basis."

Other activities described for the award include volunteer involvement as a baseball umpire for Sykesville Baseball, a recreation youth league in Carroll County, Md.; activities with the Northern Central Railway Hereford Volunteers Association, where he is the chair of their spring and summer Bike Through History program; construction and maintenance of a system of nature trails on the Integrace Fairhaven retirement community in Sykesville, Md., where he lives; coordinator of a monthly hymn-sing program for residents of that community; and a member of the Fairhaven dining services subcommittee, currently as its secretary.

Forty-nine other citizens from across the state were also inducted into the Maryland Senior Citizens Hall of Fame at the October 26 ceremony.

The Maryland Senior Citizens Hall of Fame was formed in 1987. Its mission is to identify citizens, age 65 and above, who have made 'exemplary contributions to society.' Once each year nominations are accepted, and from them a maximum of 50 people are presented the award.
